Design, Supply, Testing and Commissioning of Industrial Complex for Solid Radioactive Waste Management (ICSRM)

Under the G7 Agreement made with Ukrainian government in relation to the Chernobyl NPP decommissioning, NUKEM was awarded a contract funded by the European Union under the TACIS program. The ICSRM was handed over to the customer in 2009. The hot commissioning was completed in 2015.

The project consists of four Lots: Lot 0 – Installation of an interim storage facility for solid low-level waste in the existing building Lot 1 – Installation of a retrieval facility for low, intermediate and high level long-lived waste Lot 2 – Construction of a waste treatment facility for solid and liquid radioactive waste allowing for remote sorting, incineration, compaction, evaporation and cementation. Lot 3 – Construction of a near-surface storage facility for low and intermediate level short-lived waste
